DUAL CREDIT PROGRAMS
What does this mean?
Dual Credit refers to the opportunity for current Langley students to obtain both high school graduation credits at the same time as receiving either post-secondary course credits and/or industry trades training.
PARTNERSHIPS:
The SD35 and Industry Training Authority (ITA) offers seven dual-credit Youth TRAIN in Trades programs (Auto, Professional Cook, Carpentry, Electrical, Horticulture, Piping/Plumbing and Hairstylist) in partnership with Kwantlen Polytechnic University, BCIT, and University of Fraser Valley as well as the Youth WORK in Trades program. Both TRAIN and WORK options are available to qualified students in Grades 11 and 12. They are wonderful opportunities for students to complete post-secondary trades training (tuition-free), start youth apprenticeship early, and earn Grade 11 and/or 12 elective course credits.
APPLICATIONS OPEN IN FEBRUARY, 2022.
The SD35 in partnership with the University of Fraser Valley offers students to enrol in 100-level courses in the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Program. These courses provide Grade 12 students an opportunity to experience the post-secondary environment, earn post-secondary credits, gain early childhood education work experience all while simultaneously earning Grade 12 elective course credits.
APPLICATIONS OPEN IN FEBRUARY, 2022.
Work and Volunteer Program
A program for students grades 10-12 to gain valuable work experience in their chosen field of interest, while earning elective Grade 11 and 12 course credits. This course requires 90-120 hours of work or volunteer experience as well as 20-30 hours of course work online with a remote teacher at the Langley Education Centre.
